Separate From The Outcomes

You will never feel completely prepared. It’s not in your nature.

You can’t force yourself to be something you’re not. You’ve tried that before. It only leads to disappointment. Start from where you are and choose your path accordingly. Cultivate boldness by creating space between you and your expectations.

Focus on what you can control and separate yourself from the outcomes.

The greater the separation, the freer you are to explore. The more you explore, the more you will uncover about yourself. More of what makes you unique. More of what you really are. The process of exploring your curiosities will forge a clarifying lens to better perceive yourself, as you are. This lens will help you determine whether you are pushing the boundaries of your capabilities, or shrinking into the safety of your comfort zone.

It isn’t easy. It’s incredibly difficult. But it’s a worthwhile aim.

Believe in the process and the potential of calculated risks. Be willing to say or do or create something that might not be understood or well-received. It’s the only way to measure and expand your capabilities.

Separate from the outcomes, accept feedback objectively, and you will see what others see. From there, you get to decide if you’re prepared to stretch even further, beyond what you thought yourself capable of. And more often than not, you are.

You cannot become more than you are without reaching into the unknown to see what happens.

You must begin before you are ready.
