Sunday’s With ScootyDub (The 24th ed.)

Happy Sunday!

April was a grind.

I worked too much. I stressed too much. I created too many unnecessary stories.

But I also showed up every day to write and share my ideas.

There is something uniquely satisfying about sacrificing for what you’ve decided matters most. By committing to do one thing daily, I found a certain clarity in consistency. Writing every day forced me to let so many other things go.

I encourage you to make more time for whatever matters most to you.

My three biggest takeaways from the month:

  • Small changes in focus and attention can yield significant results.
  • Don’t sacrifice days of mental rest.
  • The days when the writing is hard are the days it’s most important.

I know writing isn’t for everyone. But even the smallest practice of self-reflection can have a transformative impact.

April Achievements:

🚢 Today marks 25 days of publishing—a monumental achievement for me. My goal was consistency, and I’ve stayed committed to it. Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to share much along the way unless you’re following me on Twitter. I publish every day on my Typeshare profile. I will eventually post them across platforms, so don’t worry. They’ll be coming.

🌥️ I over-extended myself this month. Some of it was my doing, and a lot was out of my control. Frankly, it sucked. But through it, I was forced to decide what I wanted. Taking the time to figure out what I needed from different people was long overdue. It was an uncomfortable but necessary exercise to reinforce my boundaries. I’m better off for the struggles and the solutions they presented.

Three Valuable Things To Share 🌎

🎙️ PODCAST: Deep Insights From Two of the World’s Wisest
Tim Ferriss Show #668 with Derek Sivers (Youtube)

Derek Sivers is a model closely resembling the person I aim to be. He is a silent mentor that guides many of my life decisions. Listening to this podcast reminded me how true that is.

There is a section near the beginning on personal networks that may be too technical for some. But the rest of the topics are sublime, especially as the conversation goes on.

I recommend watching it on YouTube. This way, you can skip by sections. Also, there’s something about the earnestness of the conversation that benefits from the visual aspect.

📹 VIDEO: An Unforgettable Voyage of Human Ingenuity
How an 18th Century Sailing Battleship Works (Youtube)

Every now and then, I’ll click on a random YouTube video that completely captivates me.

I don’t care much about engineering or shipbuilding, but wow, I couldn’t take my eyes off this. It doesn’t seem like it should be possible.

A compelling reminder of just how innovative human beings are when creating tools of destruction.

🤖 AI TOOL: The Ultimate Portal for AI Art Exploration
Catbird.ai

I haven’t experimented much with AI image generation. The little I have has been using this tool.

It collates an impressive number of AI image generators into one place. So with one prompt, you can search through all the different generators to see what style fits the weird you were looking for.

Because, let’s be honest, every AI image I’ve seen is a little weird.

Here’s a cat reading the newsletter:

I’ll leave you with a quote 🤔

“The world will ask you who you are, and if you don’t know, the world will tell you.”

— Carl Jung

If you enjoyed the newsletter, do me a favour and share it with one person.

I haven’t figured out how to do one of those auto-share buttons, so you’ll need to copy and paste, like we used to before phones got so smart. You can Tweet it using this, though.

Until next time, remember to live and let go,

Scotty
