February Highlights 🌞
➡️ I completed Casey Neistat’s video storytelling course with my most ambitious, story-driven project yet.
➡️ I visited Canmore to enjoy some crisp mountain air and celebrate Sarah’s birthday.
📹 Video – Who Is ScootyDub? This is a video I’ve wanted to make for some time, but I couldn’t figure out where to get started. Using the constraints and deadline of the video course, I stretched myself to figure it out.
✒️ Blog – Who Is ScootyDub? (Video Plan) How I planned, visualized, and scripted the video.
📽️ TikTok – My Process Creating Who Is ScootyDub? My first TikTok video. Diving deep into the meta.
📹 Video – I Drank The Water At Johnston Canyon One of my classic hiking videos with some extra storytelling mixed in.
🌎 Three things I enjoyed this month:
I. ARTICLE that provides one simple rule for a happier life
A Very Simple Rule by Austin Kleon (2 minute read)
Don’t think too much about your life after dinnertime. I stumbled across this article the other day and haven’t stopped thinking about it since. I am a chronic ruminator and this was a welcome reminder to let things go.
II. WEBSITE that your future self will appreciate
Futureme.org
I’ve spent a lot of time this year thinking about the future. Most of the world seems to be coming out of the pandemic 🤞 and establishing a new sort of normal. It’s still difficult to make concrete plans but I’m trying to dream big anyway. As I’ve written out some of those dreams, I’ve plugged a few into this tool to remind me where I came from and what I was seeking.
I encourage you to give it a try. Even if it’s only a short message of encouragement or a snapshot of who you are today.
III. LIST that will slightly improve your life
100 ways to slightly improve your life without really trying
A quick, casual read that will inspire you (or remind you) to make some small change to almost certainly enhance your life.
Three of my favourites:
#6. Everyone has an emotional blind spot when they fight. Work out what yours is, and remember it.
#43. If you find an item of clothing you love and are certain you will wear forever, buy three.
#78. Always book an extra day off after a holiday.
A Quote to Consider
“You cannot define a person on just one thing. You can’t just forget all these wonderful and good things that a person has done because one thing didn’t come off the way you thought it should come off.”
— Aretha Franklin
